  • Read a slave narrative and do a literary review
  • Research the murals in Philadelphia and write a report about whether that could happen in our neighborhood

ALREADY AN OPTION:

Paragraph: Write a paragraph describing the connection between what you are learning in this class and the real-world.  For example, how does the concept of civil war relate to your life?  What is a modern day example of it?  How does budgeting relate to your life?

Essay: Choose a topic and write a five-paragraph essay to go into our Social Voice Online Magazine.  Click here for a list of topics.

Picture:  Draw a picture of anything relating to social studies. 

Poem: Write a poem about anything relating to social studies.  Remember, there are many different forms of poetry. 

Movie Write-Up:  Watch a movie that relates to social studies.  If it is rated-R, you need your parent’s permission.  For a list of movies, click here.

News Write-up: Watch the news and write a summary of what it was about. 

Story: Write a story involving characters from some time period we have learned about. 

Collage: Find pictures from magazines and create a collage about any of the concepts we have learned in class.  

Survey: Create a list of questions that have more than one option for an answer.  These must relate to social studies.  Ask at least ten people to fill out the survey.  (Just don’t go to the mall, because people will think that you’re supposed to pay them afterward)

Volunteer:  Volunteer somewhere and get a letter showing that you have volunteered there.  Write a paragraph about what it was like to volunteer and how you felt afterward.
