ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Our projects will include:

  • History Day - to develop research skills and improve reading and writing while using a multimedia approach
  • Social Voice Online Magazine - away to integrate technolgy, reading, writing and research into social studies
  • Writing Team - Students will write a book as well as create an updated newsletter for the Borman website.
  • Book Club - Twice a week, students come in at lunchtime and read a novel together and discuss the elements of literature.
  • Tutoring - The teachers on our team tutor four students per week so that, by the time we have AIMS, three-quarters of our team will have had individualized, specialized instruction

Why Academic Projects?

We believe it is possible to create projects that are interesting, creative and challenging, while sticking to the core academic principles. Therefore, we have developed projects which reinforce content-area learning.

Most of these projects take a more constructivist approach that requires smaller groups and more time than teachers typically have in a traditional classroom.

These academic skills will benefit students for life. Whether it is reading, writing or critical thinking, academic skills can help students reach their goals for college, careers and life-long learning.
