Making a Difference in Phoenix Last year, in the first quarter, we donated over six hundred cans of food to the Westside Food Bank. The donated food went directly to the hungry in our community. When we wrote letters to state representatives and interviewed them for a documentary, we made a first step toward involvement in the local political process. This year, we want to continue the work we did and expand upon it. For example, we can do car washes or community yard sales. We can interview more community leaders to help bridge the gap that exists in all schools between the school and the community. We can do service projects on the weekends that direcly benefit our city. Consider the following questions:

WHY HELP OUR CITY? Because Phoenix is the capital of Arizona, issues facing our city are the issues that impact the entire state. Making a difference in our city will mean helping our immediate community so that crime decreases, businesses stay in the area and people want to live here. |
