Making a Difference in Our Country Last year, students in the IMPACT program created holiday cards for soldiers in Iraq. We also wrote letters to congressional representatives about pressing issues in our society. These were small ways of making a difference in our nation. We would like to do more, even if we are limited by space and money. We will continue to write letters to congress and even brainstorm ideas of laws that they can pass. Also, we will continue our letters to soldiers. Yet, there is a sense in which we can do more. What will it be? It depends upon the dreams of the students.

WHY HELP OUR NATION? We live in an age where civic duty is dying out. The voter turn-out continues to decrease. People feel angry at the system, but they do little to change it. We are more optimistic. We believe we can make a difference in our country. |
